Communications Officer for the IFRC Psychosocial Centre – 10-month time limited position

  • Can you video edit in Premiere Pro and maybe even add motion graphics in After Effects?
  • Do you have an interest in Humanitarian work?

Responsibilities

Website and Social Media
Manage the IFRC Psychosocial Centre website and Social Media channels and ensure clear linkages with other communication channels of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Crescent (IFRC).

Newsletter
Produce and distribute the IFRC Psychosocial Centre newsletter

Content production
Design communication and advocacy campaigns and produce relevant visibility and advocacy material, including reports, infographics, podcasts and videos

Presentations
Prepare presentations about the work of the IFRC Psychosocial Centre as needed and support Centre director and staff in preparing presentations and speeches

Visual brand
Manage and promote the IFRC Psychosocial Centre visual brand

Misc.
Manage and/or supervise communication with external contractors such as translators, graphical designers, etc.

Undertake ad hoc tasks as required

 

Qualifications

Essential

  • A solid understanding of online communication
  • A solid understanding of social media administration
  • Experienced in creating and distributing newsletters through Mailchimp
  • Experienced in web content administration through WordPress or similar cms
  • Experience with writing for web, for social media, and for newsletters
  • A solid working experience with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
  • An experienced MS Office user – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Fluency in English written and spoken

 

Desired

  • Experience with podcasting
  • Experience with visual communication – video shooting, editing and motion graphics
  • Experience as a photographer
  • Experience with technical website administration
  • Experience with other Adobe apps – Audition, After Effects, InDesign, Illustrator etc.
  • Experience with MHPSS in a humanitarian context
  • Experience working in a value based multi-cultural organisation
  • Proficiency in any of the other Red Cross Red Crescent working languages – French, Spanish, Arabic

 

You can work independently or with little guidance. You can take the lead in projects, but also lift the daily routine tasks of administrating a website and several social media platforms. You are a team player with strong interpersonal skills, you are service minded and understand that the communications function in the PS Centre is a service provided by the Comms Team to all in the centre with a need for our assistance, whether it is helping to create a cross media campaign or edit a PDF.

 

The IFRC Reference Centre for Psychosocial Support

The IFRC Reference Centre for Psychosocial Support (PS Centre) assists the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement in facilitating mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS). The PS Centre promotes mental health and psychosocial well-being for affected groups, staff and volunteers, and increases awareness of psychological reactions in times of crisis or social disruption.

The PS Centre works in partnership with Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies, academic institutions, donors, international humanitarian organisations and other stakeholders to promote and enable the mental health and psychosocial well-being of people affected by adversity.

Through trainings, publications, webinars, podcasts and training videos, the PS Centre enables National Societies world-wide to understand, respond and utilize evidence-based practice in meeting the mental health and psychosocial needs of vulnerable groups.

 

Terms and Conditions

The position is 37 hours per week, based in Copenhagen and refers to Head of Global Partnerships – Advocacy – Communication, under the technical guidance of the Senior Communication Officer

Salary and conditions will follow the Red Cross collective agreement with HK and AC. Salary level is between DKK 33,700 and DKK 43,900 including pension contribution depending on experience and qualifications.
